Howl-O-Weenie time comes only once a year. Bella and Hannah dressed up like little Mexican chorizos for their first Howl-O-Weenie Party.

Where Oh Where have my Little Ducks Gone?

You might be surprised how much wildlife is present in suburbia. Last summer we spent a day driving through Yellowstone National Park, pulling over every time we thought there was a "sighting" of wildlife. At the end of the day, we couldn't help but notice that we see more animals on a normal day in our neighborhood. Granted, there are no buffalo and moose, but there are plenty of deer, hawk and ducks.

I miss my ten little ducklings. Their patient mother found a lovely place to nest in my back yard this spring. She sat there through severe thunderstorms and hail the size of large gumballs.

After about 28 days, on a warm spring afternoon, the little ones began coming out of their shells. It took hours for them all to hatch.

The next morning I went outside to see what they were up to, and they were already swimming in our pool!

Poor little things couldn't get out of the pool, so we had to put some bricks on the stairs inside of the pool to give them a place to walk up. But they didn't know this was how to get back onto dry land, so we had to splash a lot to get them over to where they needed to be. After all that excitement, they all needed a rest.
