What my book club is reading:

"Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close," by Jonathan Safran.

This is the story of a 9 year old boy whose father was killed in the 9/11 attacks in New York City. He's sensitive, witty, intelligent and inquisive and calls himself an amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist.

We follow him on his quest through New York City to find the lock that fits the mysterious key his father left behind, intertwining the story of his grandparents along the way.

This book is very well written and extremely interesting. Both funny and sad, it suprises the reader constantly. You just don't know what to expect when you turn the next page.

Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross

This book came out recently (I found my copy at Barnes and Noble) and it has a nice assortment of cute, easy things to make in a weekend. Jessica is also in a few of the photos modeling some of the clothing, which makes this book even more special.

Jessica's Book Review

Excellent book! Written, clearly, by a serious book-lover. I identified immediately with the bookish protagonist, Margaret, but then got completely swept into the story unfolding before her. Interesting, thoughtful, surprising.
