When I first learned about these reading devices, I feared the end of books forever. "I prefer reading books," I would say. "I love the smell of them, the feel of them and even how they look!"
But then I received a Kindle. First, being able to download a book within minutes was the first mind-boggling event. Then I discovered that my eyes were not getting fatigued as easily due to the 4-level grayscale display. Another feature I quickly discoverd was when I turned off my Kindle book, it went right back to that same exact page when I turned it back on later.
Not only can users download books from Amazon.com, they can email pdf files, as well as Jpeg, Gif, Png and Bmp graphics to their account at Amazon and the file will be converted for a very small charge (something like 15 cents per MB).
I am actually on my second Kindle right now. The first one I gave to a friend of mine. I'm holding off getting the newest version for another day in the future.
